Whizz Kid - “There’s Conjuring To Be Done” (BS026 - 2014)
An amazing LP! I really urge you all to get hold of it… you’ll love it! (Phil Vickery - “In-Tune” BCfm)
These whizz kids sure sound like they’re having a blast and you’ll easily find yourself caught up in their happy party tunes. A children’s album for adults? Or maybe it’s an adult album that the kids can get into as well? No matter. Either way, it’s a refreshing concept, flawlessly executed, and a total joy from beginning to end.
(Jeff Penczak - It's Psychedelic Baby Magazine)
“There’s Conjuring to Be Done” never ceases to entertain and have you pressing the repeat button to re-imagine the experience all over again. I’m of the firm belief that its authors (Yo Yo Nielsen and J-Kane) are mischief makers and that what lies within will astound, amaze and amuse all who enter its fried domain.
(The Sunday Experience)
There’s Conjuring to Be Done” is both organic and electronic, instrument-driven and toytronic, landing halfway between Lullatone and Twink. As such, it’s an immensely appealing, happy sounding record. With fife and drums and a languid vibe, There’s Conjuring to Be Done is like a summer vacation of sand boxes and plastic pails. J-Kane and Yo-Yo Nielsen conjure up a collection of sweet childhood memories on this happy set, which includes the suddenly timely "Kid Santa". It’s never the wrong season for toys.

Perfect musical wizardry [Kid Santa]

Whizz Kid and “Kid Santa” from the album “There’s Conjuring To Be Done” - from the marvellous Bearsuit Records label
(Tom Ravenscroft - BBC 6 Music)
‘Charly Stories’ - a delightfully teased toy room treat featuring all the trademark snoozes, sighs and squelches though here graced with a gorgeously lilting shy eyed pastoral vintage which slipstreams touchingly into early 70’s TV themology with subtle nods to L’augmentation and Isan.
Experimental music is often a double-edged sword, but in the case of Whizz Kid, I was positively surprised. The first 4 tracks are pure genius!
(Pascal Thiel - DisAgreement)
If you’re after an instrumental record full of quirks but balanced by warmth and hooks, let Whizz Kid take you on their gloriously oddball journey; stopping off at Cornelius crossing, Anja Garbarek station, Zoon van snooK junction and BBC Radiophonic Workshop Central en route. Magic will surely ensue along the way.
So delicious! Tubular Bells for toddlers!
[Tom Byrne - Primal Radio]
This is a lovely thing!
(“On The Wire” BBC Radio Lancashire)
“Kid Santa” [from] the frankly playfully deranged Whizz Kid …step back a spell and listen close and the bonkers brigade of belching horns, surreal cartoonish coos and music box mosaics extract a teasingly disarming and lolloping bandstand fantasia that sounds as though its been cobbled together in a Stanshall-ese kitchen pantry.
(Mark Barton - Losing Today)
I’m liking this! [“Summer Bubbles”]
(Marc Riley - BBC 6 Music)
Many thanks to Gnomefoam for the Conjuring
