Sci-fi synths float and caress the air to bring us, the listener, to a higher state of consciousness; a lone acoustic guitar leads us on a gentle floating journey through the clear water of the love laden memories of a past we so wish we had. So yet again, a release of true wanton instrumental genius...

‘Smoke & Mirrors’ begins as a soft acoustic dream before, in typical Bearsuit fashion, electronic pulses interrupt the flow for a krautocking motoric detour into Ennio Morricone cinematic territory. It thus unintentionally serves as a warm and respectful tribute to Il Maestro, who passed about a week after its release.

O compositor e produtor belga Alexander Stordiau e o músico escocês Harold Nono juntaram-se para criar o projeto The Original Magnetic Light Parade que agora juntou forças com a editora escocesa Bearsuit Records para lançar um single duplo.

Numa viagem 100% instrumental em modo experimento sonoro, os músicos começam por desenvolver o seu ambiente magistral entre as entrelinhas de uma banda sonora tão clássica como de ficção científica em "Confusion Reigns". Com início marcado pelas camadas densas da música eletrónica experimental, rapidamente os The Original Magnetic Light Parade colocam-nos numa mesa cirúrgica caracterizada por um ambiente de ora celestial, ora sinistro e ainda assim envolvido pelas paisagens mais puras da música clássica. Entre um desenvolvimento que ganha curso nas artimanhas da música folk é mesmo no fim - promovido pelo carácter futurista dos sintetizadores que "Confusion Reigns" veste a pele de tema intenso e vigoroso. Para virar a página os músicos finalizam o duplo single com "Smoke & Mirrors", tema de camadas vinculadas à folk e influenciado pelos traços experimentais da música ambiente, o que funciona como uma viagem imersiva a um estado de consciência plena.

Em dois temas de certo modo antagónicos, os The Original Magnetic Light Parade conseguem criar uma certa coerência estética que, embora não tenha sido produzida para fazer bombar as pistas de dança, foi criada para poder deixar uma sensação de paixão em quem a escuta.
