Darren Douglas Danahy Somewhere in that dark wilderness left in that void between Frank Zappa and the Residents exists a kind of music that would inspire and confuse both artists. That music is made by the Moth Poets.

This is brilliant psychedelic music, which incorporates some lo-fi sounds with some hi-tech musicianship and boundless creativity.

Fans of progressive rock and experimental psychedelia will equally love "Doll" in my opinion.

I'm drawn to the moth poets as if to a flame... Favorite track: Someone Put A Time Bomb In My Submarine.

The Moth Poets - "Doll" (BS042)

Doll is a magnificently idiosyncratic work which assimilates a brad range of styles an influences, and as a consequence, belongs nowhere specific or readily positionable. The eight compositions, in their titles and in their sound, convey a certain sci-fi undercurrent, infused with a twist of surrealism and plain abstraction. However far-out The Moth Poets go, there’s always something to cling to. This is perhaps the key to keeping Doll on the right side of the line of (in)accessibility, and the reason it’s ultimately a success.
[Aural Aggravation]

A wonderful CD by The Moth Poets on the Bearsuit Records label. Really, really gorgeous and inviting stuff it is... Very lush stuff indeed!
[In-Tune - BCfm]

Another fine release from one of my favourite labels
[Mark Whitby, Dandelion Radio]

Another eclectic gem from those wacky wonders at Bearsuit. The title track implants his boot in your skull with an aggressively noisy heart pumping backbeat. The glitchy ‘Someone Put A Time Bomb in My Submarine’ rolls out razor sharp shards of feedback and fuzz pedals and hitches them to a funky backdrop underscored with brainfrying electric chair sizzle...The album ends on a pensive note with the intergalactic space travels of ‘Orange Peel Teeth’ and the Morricone-ish ‘Shy Bear Buffalo’, leaving us with a lot to digest and another eclectic gem from those wacky wonders at Bearsuit.
[It's Psychedelic Baby! Magazine]

Excellent stuff indeed! That was “The Battles Of Tiny Colossus” from the album “Doll” - well worth checking out!
[Aural Delights]

An 8 track head flipper whose disturbed sonic kookiness might well find kindred souls among the electric phantom and the much missed Soft Bodies. ‘Doll’ is awash with pop nuggets submerged and secretly hidden away buried beneath layer upon layer of impish distractions and musical cul de sacs. It’s a place where a classic era Pram get to dreamily demur to a Mancini like spy noir nocturnal aided and abetted by variously assembled L’Augmentation folk or where radiophonic raptures ripple with a playful eerie through fractured time holes to morph seductively into noir kissed shadow lights as on ‘shy bear buffalo’. Any questions?
[The Sunday Experience]

Stylistically varied, with an abundance of instrumental chops and dark enticing vocals, the album paces out like a theatrical production of musical ambition, discovery and accomplishment. This is an album that will serve up new aural nuances with each listen and will hold its appeal through repeated plays. A definite must have.
[Floorshime Zipper Boots]

That's very good indeed!
[Analogue Trash Radio]

Trippy stuff! I dig the guitar work a lot, and found the lyrics a lot of fun...
[Christopher McDill – Webbed Hand Records]

That's new on Bearsuit Records - with this intriguing cover of some sort of doll-like chefs with pretzels and an acoustic guitar – you've got to see it to do it justice really! They are The Moth Poets and that's the title track of their new album, “Doll”...
[Stuart Maconie – The Freak Zone, BBC6 Music]

A sublime LP. Kicking off in fine style with the wonderful title track, "Doll" a track worthy of Luke Haines at his most out there. Any LP with a song title called "The Shabby Gentlemen" cannot be anything other than one of the LPs of the year and this LP is indeed one of those, alongside - the also Bearsuit released - Bunny And The Invalid Singers, "Fear Of The Horizon". Both LPs share a refreshing experimental nature without forgetting that music is to be also enjoyed and I can imagine both fans of Abba and Sigur Ros would enjoy this LP in equal measure. Great stuff indeed.
[In The Mind Of A Bordello]

[Someone Put A Time Bomb In My Submarine] a truly hypnotic and pleasantly upsetting noise explosion... I would have preferred two distinct records, one with melodic noise pop where The Moth Poets are really great, and another one for the headier material...
[DisAgreement]

[Someone Put A Time Bomb In My Submarine] Very nice and passionate guitar work
[Coq Freisenberger]

Really rate them!
[Sanctuary Of Sound]

[Someone Put A Time Bomb... ] Glorious noise!
[Meezerpocalypse]
